Pick your own apples at Springlands

Come along to our lovely walled garden situated at Upper Springlands and pick your own apples straight from our orchard (donations welcome). We also grow produce and tenderly cared for plants for you to buy.

PICKING, JUICING AND CIDER MAKING TRAINING

A Tay Landscape Partnership Event

Learn about the process of fruit ripening – and how to pick, process and store your apples, pears and plums at the optimum time and in the most interesting ways. Practical course with hands-on juicing – we will also cover the main points of cider making. Led by Margaret Lear of Plants with Purpose & Appletreeman.

When? Wednesday 27th September, 10am – 4pm

Where? Springland Walled Garden, Isla Road, Perth

What? Fruit harvest skills

Who? This training course is suitable for anyone who is interested in picking, storing and using orchard fruits, including keepers of orchards large and small. No previous experience necessary.

Age? 16+

Prepared and served by our fantastic hospitality students.  The students will serve a selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes with tea or coffee.  Served in award winning Gallery Restaurant (room 308) from 1.45 until 3pm on Thursday 28th September 2017.

FRIDAY FOOD AND WINE - CHAMPAGNE AND SPARKLING

Grayson’s owner, Gordon Polley, will draw on his 20 year career in the wine trade to guide you through some of the best sparkling and Champagne’s currently available. Let your taste buds answer questions like, do all Champagnes taste the same? Do you prefer Champagne’s made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir or Pinot Meunier?

Can you tell the difference between a good sparkler and Champagne? Accompanying food will come from our pate, cheese and charcuterie range, including many Great Taste award winners; Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink. It has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world and the ‘epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’.
