We are delighted to announce the return of The Mary Queen of Scots Festival to Kinross.

Mary Queen of Scots Festival banner

On Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd September 2017, we will celebrate the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Kinross area, most notably its famed connection to Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots.

The event will commemorate Mary’s life as Kinross poignantly marks the 450 year relationship with the Castle on Loch Leven Island where she was held captive and spent some of her most troubled years, and the end of her reign in 1567.

The programme will include living history encampments, music, food and drink as well as children’s entertainment, all activities will guarantee a great day out.

The event is FREE and starts at noon each day.

We are delighted to announce the winner of the huge hamper from our raffle at the Perth Show last weekend on the Lesser South Inch in Perth.

Mairi was unavailable to collect her prize in person so her mum (pictured) was kind enough to pop along to the Giraffe Cafe to collect the box of goodies.

We have to say a massive thanks to Highland Fayre Hampers and Cairn O’Mohr Wines for providing the prizes.

Many thanks to all who took part and keep an eye out for more competitions coming your way soon!

Our 2017 event brochure is currently at the printer – be one of the first to get your hands on one this Tuesday (1st August) at Perth Racecourse.

We’ll be there in force for the ‘Rock at the Races event’ which kicks off from 4.30pm this coming Tuesday. Come and say “hi” if you’re popping along!

Rock at the Races

If you like good music and you like racing – you are in for a treat on Tuesday 1st August.

Come and join us as we Rock at the Races!

The perfect evening for race goers with a rockstar attitude as we have seven great races to enjoy before live music takes centre stage until 10:15pm! Bwani Junction will be playing their tour of Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’ in what is set to be an incredible evening at Perth Racecourse.

There are seven great races to enjoy and going by last year’s results, don’t just look out for the fancied runners! 100-1 shot Drummullagh Rocky, trained by Sean McParlan, beat off competition from the likes of Richard Johnson to claim an unlikely victory!

After the racing is finished, head over to the main stage for live music from Bwani Junction until 10:15pm!

WEAR: Smart casual – dress to impress and leave the trainers and footie colours at home!

EAT: Locally sourced haddock freshly cooked to order – get down to the Fish & Chip Shop and enjoy your meal on the picnic benches nearby.

SEE: Bwani Junction on the main stage after the final race until 10:30pm – it’s not to be missed!

DO: Pick your horses wisely! With 100-1 shot Drummullagh Rocky winning last year, anything can happen!

We are excited to bring the Great Perthshire Picnic back for its second year this September.

After the success of the inaugural event last year we are returning in 2017 with our fab food and drink festival. This year will be bigger and better, drawing in both local visitors and those from further afield.

You put on the events and we market them under the Great Perthshire Picnic umbrella.

WHY GET INVOLVED, we hear you ask!

Working together means we can benefit from shared promotion, experiences and recommendations. Last year new business relationships were formed and new opportunities realised.

It can be difficult as a small business to
spread the word about what you have to offer. Being part of the Great Perthshire Picnic gives you the opportunity to reach a wider audience for greater value. All you need to contribute is a new or existing event which you may be already planning.

The Great Perthshire Picnic is a platform for customers to access the full range of Perthshire’s bountiful larder. Being involved will therefore attract people to not only one event, but introduce them to potential new experiences – not just for a day, but over the entire month of September.

Increase your footfall this September and beyond!
