SAT 30th Sept

FERMENTATION WORKSHOP WITH CHARLOTTE PIKE

Cookery book author and cooking teacher Charlotte Pike will be leading two 1 day workshops at Burmieston based on her books FERMENTED and SMOKED.

Saturday 30th September is all about Fermentation- one of the most nutritionally beneficial elements you can add to your diet. Learn how to make sourdough, kombucha, jun, water kefir and more. Sunday 1st October will focus on Smoking. Find out what equipment you need and discuss woods, rubs and cures before making your own hot and cold smoked dishes. PICKING, JUICING AND CIDER MAKING TRAINING

A Tay Landscape Partnership Event

Learn about the process of fruit ripening – and how to pick, process and store your apples, pears and plums at the optimum time and in the most interesting ways. Practical course with hands-on juicing – we will also cover the main points of cider making. Led by Margaret Lear of Plants with Purpose & Appletreeman.

What? Fruit harvest skills

CAIRN O MOHR FORAGED COCKTAILS EXPERIENCE

Linsay will be your guide in the orchard, showing you the wild ingredients to pick for your cocktails. Next she will lead you into the Winery preparation room to let you see the Autumnal wines and ciders in production before heading into your own Blending Lab to create your own wonderful cocktails using Cairn o Mohr wines plus your foraged ingredients and other additions. CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE MAKING WORKSHOP

Hands on chocolate making workshop – rolling, dipping, decorating and of course eating delicious handmade truffles.  Find out how to make a ganache, how to temper chocolate and just a little more about this amazing food.  Flavours will include local and seasonal as available.

The workshop will cover basic techniques of ganache making and tempering chocolate, using equipment that you would have in your own kitchen.  So – come along to make chocolates as a one off – or come to launch a new chocolate making passion in your own home!

All equipment will be provided, just bring good humour, taste buds and some creativity.  You will take home all the chocolates that you have made as well as a whole new set of skills!

Come into The Crieff  Food Company where we will have tastings from wide array of our local producers, from cheese, artisan bread, tea, coffee to confectionary, jams/preserves and locally grown rapeseed oils and dressings.

We are blessed here in Crieff to have a huge variety of local producers and suppliers of world class food / produce on our doorstep. some of these producers have been in business for generations and some just setting out, but what they have in common is that they are all passionate about what they do.  Our aim at the Crieff Food Company is to champion these producers, support and encourage their endeavours and show off their produce.

We will be showcasing many of these producers on our “local heroes” day, come along taste their produce meet some of them and learn a bit more about what they do.
